PAS2060 Accreditation
We are all aware of the global climate crisis currently facing everyone, but few of us know to what extent our activities contribute to the problem and how we can reduce their impact. Achieving a carbon zero approach is our ultimate goal, and we’re on the way. Our first milestone is to become carbon neutral and we have been working towards our PAS2060 accreditation.
PAS2060 is the internationally recognised specification for carbon neutrality and builds on the existing PAS2050 environmental standard. It sets out requirements for quantification, reduction and offsetting of greenhouse gas emissions for organisations, products and eventS.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
We calculate our carbon footprint across three scopes, our direct emissions, such as our vehicles; our indirect emissions, such as the purchase of electricity and finally, any further indirect emissions, such as procurement.
We then look to reduce our carbon footprint by examining how to change our behaviour. This is then offset by using one of the many programmes available such as tree planting.
CARBON ZERO
We’re proud to say some of our sites have already achieved their PAS2060 accreditation and this will be rolled out across the group.
We’re taking positive action across every aspect of our operations to achieve a carbon zero footprint. We have an obligation to the generations to come to leave the environment better than we found it.
